December 16, 2014Week Three – Bathrooms The property on Arquilla is a 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom home, with a full bathroom on each level. The one upstairs was redone without modifying the layout very much at all. However, the downstairs bath required some significant changes due to an extremely poor original design, as you can see in these pictures. We often look for ways to add to the wow, without breaking the budget. From time to time, Home Depot carries items called “Special Buys” which include vanities, flooring, tile, and other items, at significantly discounted prices. These vanities look great and were very cost-effective due to their “Special Buy” program. Here are some of the SKU’s we used in the bathrooms on Arquilla: Vanity – 36” Glacier Bay Del Mar in Espresso (674-025) Vanity – 24” Glacier Bay Renditions (637-327) Floor Tile – 12″ x 24″ Travertino Romano (115-664) Floor Grout – Bone (123-852) Shower Tile – 8″ x 12″ Tessuto Pearl White (76969536929) Grout – Bone (123-851) Faucets – Banbury 1-Handle Tub/Shower (243-261) Bathtubs – 5′ Aloha White (478-640) Toilet – Dual Flush by Glacier Bay (215-583) Faucet – Glacier Bay Buildiers 4″ 2-Handle (247-368) Mirror – 22″x28″ Brushed Nickel Frame (481-166) Lighting – Hampton Bay 3-light Brushed Nickel (610-563) Towel Bar Set – Greenwich 3-piece Bath Accessory Kit in Satin Nickel (690-977) ...

December 16, 2014Your Road to Success NOTE: The following post is the introduction to a series I’ve titled: “The 8 Steps to Sure Success” “Let no feeling of discouragement prey upon you and in the end, you are sure to SUCCEED!” – Abraham Lincoln Through the years, there has been an enormous amount of research conducted on highly successful people. It can be defined in so many ways depending on who is defining the term. When I think of success, it brings to mind great men and women like: George Washington, Michael Jordan, Oprah Winfrey, Jack Welch, or Steve Jobs. The list could go on for hours. Typically, we define success as attaining a goal or being the best at whatever we accomplish. However, any definition will confirm one thing – success doesn’t “just happen.” It takes hard work and passion. Most of you reading this blog are like me: we want to succeed at whatever it is that we do. And one thing that I want to do is help YOU succeed at whatever it is you were put on this Earth to do! You hold the key to lifelong success – it’s up to you! Success is rarely an accident; it happens on purpose. It is YOU who decides if you want to step onto the road to success! Interstate 75 is a major freeway running north/south extending from Michigan to Florida. If you told me that you were leaving your house in, let’s say, Chattanooga, TN and heading south to Florida for the winter, but I saw you take the exit that says “75 North to Detroit, MI,” I would be perplexed. Your words were clear, but your actions contradicted your words. So if you told me that you want to succeed, but you don’t take the necessary steps that lead to success, your actions would contradict your words! WARNING: Along the road to success, there will be bumps, potholes, and bad weather! There will be times that you fail miserably and there will be times in which you have made it to your destination early and the end results were far better than you’d ever imagined. The more you succeed, the more those around you will want to emulate you. They may aid you in your journey and help you achieve greater success. But remember: with the positive also comes the negative. During your journey, you’ll be tried and tested. Some onlookers (or even passengers!) will be envious or jealous of you. They may attempt to disrupt your journey and become stumbling blocks in your path. It is how you handle these people that will determine the final outcome. It is in these cases that it’s so important for you to remember that if people envy you, you have done something right! Keep your eyes on the finish line. With hard work, determination, and yes, sometimes a little luck, you will reach your destination and will be ready for the next road-trip. Over the next few months, I will be presenting “The 8 Steps to Sure Success.” Again this was just the introduction to the series. Step 1 will be next. I will walk you through 8 steps that will help guide you along your lifelong journey to success! So...

December 16, 2014Week Two – Kitchen To improve the kitchen layout, we made a slight modification by creating a bar and connecting it to the opposite wall. It made for a much better design is this space! We also rearranged the appliances to improve the flow of the kitchen. It cost a little more to move the gas line for the range but the overall improvements were well worth it. The Crackle Fantasy glass accent pieces (which Home Depot carries in stock) really made a statement in this kitchen; not only did this glass accent match well with the granite counters, it also really pulled all the colors together from the flooring to the Martha Stewart paint on the cabinetry. Here are some of the SKU’s we used in the kitchen: Cabinets – Unfinished Oak Cabinets (387-246) Cabinet Color – Mushroom (MSL 248) Cabinet Handles – 3″ Liberty Satin Nickel (731-819) Backsplash – Crackle Fantasy (773-887) – Arctic Ice Subway Glass in White 12″ x 12″ (Internet Order #202523616) Backsplash Grout – Polyblend #382 Bone 10-lb.
