The power of a smartphone mobile app may surprise many, but not us! Recently, we were encouraged when one of our San Antonio REI Academy attendees, Evans Stacker, approached us with his personal testimony. Evans is a young, up and coming real estate agent who has been thriving in the San Antonio market for about six years. Andrew was approached by Evans, who relayed his personal story to us. Evans has been following us via social media and had downloaded our mobile application. Before Evans had ever met us or attended our events, he followed our weekly website postings. Every Wednesday, we post an on-going series called “Rehabs Revealed”. This is reflected on our website and is also accessible via our mobile application. Evans loved the fact that the mobile app was free of charge, yet chocked-full of real estate-related information. Evans downloaded our mobile app and used the available SKU’s for a specific investment. He walked right into Home Depot, showed them the SKU’s, and within moments, had all of the necessary materials to enhance his project. This was Evans first flip. However, using all of the SKU’s and colors from one of our rehab, Evans house was on the market and immediately, was under contract. The information was free and will equate to higher profits and a quality end-result. The AC mobile app is free, user friendly, and is updated daily. This quad-level house is located in one of the better neighborhoods in Hammond, Indiana. Many of the homes in the surrounding area are 40 or more years old. However, there are also some newer homes around the corner from this one. This certainly helped the ARV (after repair value). This house has three bedrooms upstairs and an additional bedroom in the lower level. We left the layout alone upstairs with three bedrooms and one bathroom, but we changed the shower in the downstairs bathroom (off the family room) to custom glass shower walls with custom tile. We went with a warm color scheme. This house was only on the market for five days, and we had a full-price offer! ...

“On Independence Day, we should remember the spirit of rebellion against tyranny that inspired our Founding Fathers to set out our experiment in liberty. We should ourselves celebrate and continue that struggle if we are to keep our republic.” – Ron Paul Friendship and gratitude: Today, I envision three distinct peaks in our nation’s 238-years of existence. The first peak I envision is one of “friendship and gratitude.” Without the assistance of France, it is highly doubtful that we would have won our independence from England. France was at war with England at the time and claimed victory against it’s imperialist nemesis to the North, England. France did not aid us because of some altruistic virtue or deep affection for a new nation. No, they helped us out of self-interest. However, history reflects that as a nation. America still benefited immensely from France’s self-interest. Take a moment and ask yourself how many times have you been helped or assisted others only because of self interest? Yet, help is help, regardless of the motive! This July 4th, I am thankful for the friends of our country, both foreign and domestic. Regardless of their self-interests in demonstrating that help! Perspective and patience: The second peak that I envision is one of “perspective and patience”. Britain demanded our subjugation as a colony and scoffed against our desire to be an independent nation. Yet today, some would consider Britain to be one of our strongest allies. Our relationship has evolved not unlike that of an independently-minded teenager who rebels against his parents. Maturing as a nation, we grew out of our insolence. In due course, acknowledged our mother-country (England) as both a peer and a friend. The “parent” has ceased scolding and has come to acknowledge and respect her “child’s” maturation and independence. This lesson is simple, though not easily learned. Patience and perspective can bring both reconciliation and mutual respect. Time, endurance, wisdom, and opportunity should be allowed to ply their strengths. Our founding fathers would most certainly be surprised at how well we get along with “their” enemy. Progression versus digression: The last peak that I envision is what I call “progression versus digression”. Although not all that is termed “progression” is such! The “progression” of draconian gun control laws that lie in contradiction to our beloved Second Amendment. The “progression” of technology’s invasion of our personal lives akin to Orwell’s 1984. In which the “progression” from a humble, constitutional foreign policy to one of aggression. One that costs us blood and treasure by overthrowing governments by lethal force, installing puppet regimes and occupying territories. Which in-turn, creates enemies that wouldn’t exist otherwise! These examples do not represent “progress,” but rather illustrate a “digression” from the values and principles that make our great nation unique. Consequently, we are in more bondage to the federal government, are...

Whether you’re starting a franchise, a non-profit, a commercial retail store, a church or an ice cream shop, the one MUST word for your success is PASSION! Passion in the dictionary refers to a range of “feelings” and relates to our emotions: love, rage, anger, or affection. It explains the success of great leaders who are driven to pursue excellence within their business. Also, it explains why many of those successful leaders can be almost volatile in their anger at those who don’t see the vision or who perform poorly. If you are passionate about your work, you will find it difficult to calmly tolerate the poor performance of others! Our second deadly sin of leadership is the word “DISPASSIONATE.” This is not the absence of passion or the opposite of passion. Rather, it refers to one who is not affected by emotion. These kinds of people are usually much easier to work for, but they seldom are the key players in a business’ success. Weak leaders would rather be liked by others than be profoundly successful. Good leaders are passionate about succeeding regardless of the fallout from their passion. Great leaders are passionate both about their business AND the people who help them achieve success. It is my goal to help you become a truly GREAT leader. The starting point is that all-consuming drive to be the best or provide the best in what you do. If you are more passionate about anything else, do that instead. Do not enter business with second-class desire, you’ll get third-rate results. Now, to be fair there are those who entered business mostly because they needed money. But if they succeeded, it was the result of one of two things. Either they were VERY HUNGRY and saw their work as the means to feed themselves and their family, or they were VERY PASSIONATE and were baptized in desire to succeed. Both are related to each other. Hunger and passion are both powerful drivers. My father once took me grocery shopping in his new motor home. Dad took me grocery shopping and wanted to show off his new 38′ quarter-of-a-million dollar motor home. He asked me to pick out anything I wanted. I showed up with a few items, including some juice. He looked at the juice and said, “Put that back and get the generic brand.” I responded, “Dad, there’s only a few cents difference between the two brands, and this brand tastes better.” There in the shopping aisle, I got a 5-minute lecture about pinching pennies. I said, “But, Dad, you drove me here in an expensive motor home, and you’re quibbling about a few pennies?” He replied, “Yes, and that’s how I got that motor home, by watching my pennies.” If you have never felt that kind of emotion about how your business is being run...
